‘MOTHERS’ was the theme of the sold-out song recital, in which motherhood and the love of mothers for their children and of children for their mothers was sung about in each and every song.
Soprano Wanda Peters and pianist Abigail Richards performed touching songs and, together with alto José Scholte, also duets about the different aspects of motherhood. The programme incuded Works by Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Britten, Franck, and others in no less than 15 talen. Actress Tonneke van der Sluijs recited the poems in Dutch, which made the songs more accesisible to the audience, and helped to en dcreate a story line from the Young mother with the newborn baby to the old mother who is praised for her love and dedication. It was a benefit recital that Wandfa performed on her 50th birthday and with which she raised €3.434 for two charities: the Kampala Music School and Kiran Namaste (a project for homeless single mothers in Nepal).
